Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Parents, Parents whose children are Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander
This workshop explores the complexities that can exist between the organisation you work for and your own cultural identity. This will help you to walk and work in two worlds, and to meet your client responsibilities without losing yourself through institutional bureaucracy. Journey of Resilience is designed to assist Aboriginal workers to problem solve and develop strategies to affect change within organisations, challenge institutional unhealthy practice and create solutions that enhance the workers role with full support from the organisation. Learning Outcomes: • Increased awareness of organisation construct that are not culturally safe or considerate; • Increased appreciation/understanding of Institutional Racism and its implementation; • Develop strategies to challenge system and change practice, and • Develop strategies to achieve goals to maintain self-care.
