Trauma Informed Work for Aboriginal Workers

This workshop provides an overview of the multiple impacts of colonisation and how other forms of violent oppression intersect to impact on the everyday lives of people, particularly on the growth and development of children, and their subsequent capacity to manage their adult lives and relationships and parent children. Outcomes: Increased knowledge and understanding of trauma and its impact on the growth and development of children and parenting capacities; Increased knowledge and understanding of how Aboriginal peoples’ experiences of trauma impacts on daily life; Increased confidence to apply acknowledgement of this trauma and oppression to your work through trauma informed practice. This workshop is open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Workers whose role is to support Aboriginal Children and their families in Western Sydney.
